The Dead Space is an Austin post-punk band that have that local sound I can’t quite describe, but when you hear it you’ll know what I’m talking about. This is the kind of music for late night listening. It’s downbeat, moves at a steady—and sometimes plodding—pace. They never get wild or veer into dance music, as the genre does from time to time. It’s just slow, broody, and dark. I must confess, there’s nothing here that really sticks in my memory though. There are elements, but they evaporate as the songs roll out. –Matt Average (12XU, 12xu.net)
