DARIUS KOSKI: What Was Once Is By and Gone: CD

Jan 31, 2018

I know I am in the minority for my age bracket, but I just don’t really get the whole folksy, country punk thing that’s happening these days. It feels like punk rockers get to some point in the forties or fifties when they decide to make mellow music. It’s like that old chestnut about rockabilly being the “skinhead retirement plan.” There is absolutely nothing wrong with doing what you feel—and in this case Darius Koski does it well—but I can’t help but nod off when listening to it. At times, it feels like Morrissey starring in a western, and those are my favorite tracks. In the end, I’m just not a pianos and banjos kind of guy. –Ty Stranglehold (Fat)
