Cult Values are a mix of punk, hardcore, and post-punk. It’s a strange mix that somehow works. The vocalist sounds like Martin from Career Suicide, and the music is a combination of Rough Kids, Killing Joke, and Joy Division (especially “Parallel”), but played at fast speeds. While I do like this record—on the whole it doesn’t flow like a cohesive album. It is instead a collection of songs, which are all good, but could benefit from something linking them together and creating an overall mood that hooks you in for the duration. That said, I do like this, and am curious, like a cat, about what they will do next. –Matt Average (Deranged, [email protected], derangedrecords.com)
