Inventive garage synth punk from Seattle, Handbag is an aggressively weird nine-song display of in-your-face bizarreness. Sometimes accessible, there are entire anarchic sections which cling to a minimalist structure that somehow remains unpretentious. The lingua franca of lo-fi punk weirdos doesn’t always comport to easy shelving, yet that doesn’t keep this from stirring up impulsive dance moves upon first needle drop. –Art Ettinger (Self-released, cripples.bandcamp.com)
