People love to float the “goth” label around, but in this case it really hits the mark. Haunting stuff from this Ohio band leaning into early ’80s U.K. goth gear. Siouxsie-esque vocals, shimmering guitar like Southern Death Cult or The Mission, and the dark, tribal drive of Joy Division and Lack Of Knowledge. It’s not all moody darkness, as there’s an almost late-’80s indie vibe at times as well. It all feels very “then” but fits just right “now.” Tremendous. –Tim Brooks (Feel It)
