CRIM: Blau Sang, Vermell Cel: LP/CD

Jan 18, 2017

As 2016 draws to an end, yet another gem of a record from Spain— Catalonia to be more precise—comes to light and serves notice of its intent to form part of any annual Best of 2016 list I might end up compiling. With everything blazing from the off, the melodic attack provides me with a sense of having grown an inch or two in height—such is the way the thirteen tracks lift me up, physically and mentally. This effervescence comes from the big production which allows the songs to explode rather than be constricted. The guitars offer drive and excellent interplay while the rhythm section pounds away expertly. With some excellent vocals, both individually and collectively, it’s no surprise that Epitaph are due to release this in the U.S.A. early in 2017 (there are more than enough nods to Bad Religion along the way). Top quality punk rock. –Rich Cocksedge (Bcore Disc, [email protected], bcoredisc.com)
