CONNECTION, THE, #402, $1-$2, 8½” x 11”, copied, 23 pgs.

This long-running zine, founded by Nat Hall and Skye D’Aureous, is a collection of political commentary and musings on a wide range of current issues, from the right to privacy to COVID to Black Lives Matter and “wokism.” Much of the content of Issue #402 of The Connection was written by its publisher, Erwin S. “Filthy Pierre” Strauss, with contributions from Joe Bastardi, James N. Dawson, Jason Rodgers, and Jim Stumm, among others. There are excerpts from 1984 by George Orwell. Plus, there’s plenty of old-school clipart illustrating articles on the I.W.W. (“Rootless Cosmopolitan Local”) and everyday terms (e.g., “Radicals: At their roots, reformists in denial”; “School: Vocational training for work camps”). The Connection reads like a harrowed, clinging attempt by a group of white men increasingly disappointed by society but desperate to make sense out of it. Connect with The Connection if you relate. –Gina Murrell (Erwin S. Strauss, 10 Hill St. #22-L, Newark, NJ 07102)
