Our annual punk fest here in Richmond, Va. was renamed Fight Back Fest last year. I always enjoy the weekend’s collection of bands, which both brings some old faves and friends to town and also always introduces me to a bunch of new bands I’m unfamiliar with.
That was the case with Boston’s Video Filth. I really don’t know much about them, other than that they were friends of a friend… and they exploded on the Strange Matter stage with an aggressive yet bouncing beat that had the singer jumping around non-stop and sharing the mic with the crowd of friends who obviously knew the band well. That is what I like about this photo—the interaction of band and crowd and the happy faces of punk.
