There’s nothing like a punk rock show under a bridge by the river at the end of the summer in Richmond, VA. These shows are word of mouth, and when a friend tells me I better check out a new axe-beat band from NYC I go all in. Savage Pleasure were indeed my jam. Galloping and guttural crust with an old-school vibe—exactly how I like it! What a fun show!

Local band Invertebrates opened, and TAZ from NYC also played. The show was a throwback to the early ’90s for me, which made me feel like I was at ABC No Rio or a Squat the Lot show on the LES. The crowd was super diverse with liberty spikes, bullet belts, flannel, and fireworks. Everyone was super stoked, the mosh pit was wild, and the vibe was rad. Honestly, it was the kinda show that makes me feel glad to be part of this crazy punk rock world. Savage Pleasure have a cassette demo. I highly recommend checking them out!
