Richmond is a rad city with tons of great bands and a much-loved, long-lived, favorite club that’s closing its doors. Whether you knew it as Twisters, 929, Nanci Raygun, and most recently Strange Matter, it’s had many names and a rich history at 929 W. Grace Street. It’s been an essential building that’s housed a shared experience for so many people and bands in the Richmond hardcore-punk-metal scene.
Iron Reagan are one of Richmond’s favorite bands. The members have all been playing shows in as many bands as the venue has had names.
In an attempt to honor, showcase, remember, and celebrate how great the Richmond scene is, the people of Strange Matter put together a series of stacked shows as part of a “closing series.” On December 8, 2018 the stage was shared by Roy Batty, Cannabis Corpse, BAT, Iron Reagan, Cough, and Windhand. It’s been a ton of fun, but bittersweet all the same.
It’s not easy to say goodbye.
