H.O.P.E.? at Skullfest, 8/18/23, Cattivo, Pittsburgh, Pa. | Photo by Chris Boarts Larson
Earlier this summer I was listening to the H.O.P.E? demo and was overcome with the most intense “I must see this band now” feeling. Since I first heard them, H.O.P.E.? was an instant favorite! To have that feeling and then find out I’d have that opportunity to see them at Skullfest 13 in Pittsburgh, with about the best lineup I could have imagined was the best news!
Finally getting back to one of my favorite cities for the annual Skullfest was awesome! This was my first Skullfest! Getting to see Pittsburgh’s newest, Dead Sky, along with Jay and Seattle’s Nightfeeder, my current favorite and obsession—Flower, my long-time favorite—the crust legends Misery, as well as getting to see H.O.P.E? was everything I could have wanted!
This one show celebrating Profane Existence 34th Anniversary was everything! My camera decided I should not take so many photos, but I was really happy with a few, including this favorite of @mandapocalypse.
Every band was perfect! The show was rad! The weekend was amazing! It was great to be back in the hill city, and, wow, those hills are way steeper than I remember! It was so cool to see so many punks, so many bands, and so many old friends! Pittsburgh just might be the punkest city on earth, at least during Skullfest!
