Chris Boarts Larson Photo Column—Final Gasp

Mar 02, 2024

As a flash photographer, it can be challenging to shoot without it. I find it to be frustrating but also kind of fun, and I usually take even more photos than usual. So if the lighting is good and the band is filling the stage with explosive energy, I really can take a lot of photos.

That’s what happened when Final Gasp played with Devil Master last December. It was my first time seeing Final Gasp. They had such a huge presence on the stage with hair, feet, and instruments flying and swirling in constant movement. Their powerful and explosive death rock is in the vein of crossing Killing Joke with Danzig. I was all in with this band and thoroughly enjoyed them!

I’ve gone through my photos time and time again and had such a hard time choosing just a few—let alone one—hence I’ve been sitting on sharing my excitement over this band. Finally, here are two that I feel captures the energy I felt with them in front of me. I can’t wait to see this amazing band again!
