Chris Boarts Larson Photo Column—Behind Enemy Lines

Behind Enemy Lines is a legendary Pittsburgh band—outspoken in their politics, with a strong metallic edge, and comprised of some of the absolutely best humans who I know. My love of these people and Pittsburgh runs so deep and fills my heart. It’s been way too long since I’ve seen them as a band, as people, or even been to my heart city of Pittsburgh.

Back in the early 2000s, the Mr. Roboto Project was an excellent all-ages DIY show space in a storefront modeled after Gilman and ABC No Rio. It was one of the most fun places to see bands and I drove back and forth from Richmond to Pittsburgh for many fantastic, amazing, super fun shows. It seems impossibly crazy now that I drove up for an early show and back to RVA the same night, but oh man, was it worth it!

I miss those times and people so much. I really need to get myself back to da ‘Burgh.
