Generator shows on bridges. Bands playing by rock piles under bridges, in abandoned warehouses or in empty lots are one of the best signs of summer. Some of my favorite times are these outside DIY shows and annual fests. For the past several years, the Richmond Punx have organized a weekend of shows and events which they call the “Richmond Punx Picnic” and it’s always a blast. This photo is of Boston’s Aspects Of War from the 2014 Richmond Punx Picnic at a cool spot under a bridge by the river. It was chaos—fireworks going off and the punks going crazy.
This year some new organizers are taking the helm and the fest will be called “Richmond Fight Back Fest.” Scheduled for mid-September, it’s sure to be a good time with a few shows in small clubs, some hanging out by the river, punx picnic-ing in the park and, hopefully, a good generator show in a cool spot.
