CALL IN DEAD: Deepest Condolences: LP

Jan 27, 2023

Subsequent to the release of this debut album from Orlando’s Call In Dead, they got a new singer. The one on Deepest Condolences is a student of popular 1980s vocalists like Kevin Seconds, Dave Dictor, and Ian MacKaye, channeling different icons specifically at individual moments. There aren’t too many bands that sound this retro these days, with Call In Dead seemingly uninterested in hardcore influences post 1986 or so. The lyrics aren’t as funny as the clever band name, but they’re still amusing enough. It’s slickly packaged, with two cover variants and two colors of vinyl available. Before you call in sick tomorrow, make sure to listen to Call In Dead. –Art Ettinger (Wrecking Crew, wreckingcrewrecords.bigcartel.com)
