BROCCOLI: Home: CS

Nov 22, 2017

This cassette is a re-release of the Scottish band’s 1998 album on Rugger Bugger Records. I vaguely recall Broccoli from that time but they never achieved the success of some of their brethren, specifically Jawbreaker and Leatherface. Appropriately, Broccoli sounds like a mix of both bands, especially in the vocal department. Musically, they’re not quite as original or compelling as some of their peers but they still pack a punch in that emo punk way that many a band did in the 1990s. If you’re lamenting the lack of bands that play this style of music, and haven’t heard of Broccoli, I’d recommend picking up Home. –Kurt Morris (Dead Broke)
