BRNDA: Do You Like Salt?: LP

Jan 05, 2022

This Washington D.C. trio plays songs which emit a cool, almost medicated detachment not unlike the Dismemberment Plan’s Change, and evoke indie-isms that remind me, initially, of the Parquet Courts. With that said, the more I listen to this one the more I’m charmed by the band’s sardonic wit, the way they paint listeners into corners with intertwined lyrical dilemmas about the ethical paradox of the everyday, and the humdrum in late stage capitalism. As a former restaurant guy, the way that both sides of the coin—diner and worker—are portrayed is particularly resonant. –Michael T. Fournier (brnda.bandcamp.com)
