BOBBY LEES, THE: Skin Suit: CD/LP

Jan 21, 2022

Once or twice a year I get these bluesy garage rock bands in my batch of reviews. The Bobby Lees are a little different in that they’re female fronted and do some great covers, including Bo Diddly’s “I’m a Man” and Richard Hell’s “Blank Generation.” But like most of the other garage bands I hear, the other songs start running together. They’re energetic, fuzzy, and groovy. The Bobby Lees come across as one of those bands who are probably great live but it’s hard to transfer that over to the album. It’s not bad for what it is but like most of the other bluesy garage bands I review, there’s nothing that sticks out. –Kurt Morris (alive-records.com)
