The music on this—a collaboration between the Cheater Slicks and the singer of the band named Bill—are largely based on assorted simple grooves rooted in the kind of swampy garage-noise the Slicks are best known for—albeit a bit toned down sonically from previous endeavors—with Gage warbling, muttering, and scuzzing largely unintelligible lyrics over the top. At times, Gage manages to get a buzz going on his vocals that almost sounds like he’s gonna showcase some fancy Tuvan throat singing skills, but ultimately doesn’t. Not for all tastes, I reckon, but interesting for those who like their records odd. –Jimmy Alvarado (In The Red)
