I appreciate Beautiful Delilahs’ rootsy punk, their nods to country/blues/rock’n’ roll tradition, and I especially like the psychological one-two punch of “Unresolved” and “Headlights”—the dismissive outsider saying “some people don’t do anything at all” followed by the devoted lover willing to stop his ramblin’ and “stay right where I am just for you.” If only the production wasn’t so clean. Sweat and grime would elevate this band, but they’ve been air-conditioned into respectability and flatness. You’re left to imagine the sort of dive bar where all of these songs make sense. –Matt Werts (End Of The West, endofthewest.com)
