Although the album cover might yield the impression that this is the work of some twee college band from Lawrence, Kan. circa 1983, it actually sounds more like the hard-edged metal bong rip sludge-punk on Amphetamine Reptile circa 1990. You know, buzzy and heavy, but with a little more wind under its wings than the plod over at Sub Pop.
