ASTUTE PALATE: Self-titled: LP

I’ve chosen to think of 2021 as having officially started with this one-off super-ish group record, a point in the universe where post-punk disjointing and psych wandering fall together nicely, dingy and relaxed and cool. Everyone’s high point will be different, though I think we can all agree on “No Queen,” the staccato blast of it, or more generally that setting up and playing and shredding and grooving and not overthinking are viable options and make total sense. Will we need to float off and/or rage this year? Probably? Astute Palate did a good thing and covered us either way. –Matt Werts (Petty Bunco, testostertunes.bigcartel.com)
