I like the Pogues, I like Flogging Molly, and I like the Dropkick Murphys. Their timing was right for introducing Celtic music to the masses in their own unique ways. Now that the popularity of the concept is spreading, more and more bands are popping out of the woodwork. Heritage or not, of the fifteen bands on this comp, only two bands had tracks that did not remind me of the three bands I listed above. One of the two tracks by the band Neck was actually a cool psychedelic rocker. The track by the Spunk Lads reminded me of early Two Tone ska by way of the Specials. The music is well-executed but too much of a good thing can be too much to appreciate.
