I’ve never been the biggest fan of comps (and that is especially true of label-based comps), but there are definitely exceptions. The secret to a making a good comp is to make it feel more like a mix tape than a showcase. Pay attention to the pacing, the flow, and how everything fits together. With Havoc, they have the benefit of being able to throw on tracks by amazing bands like DS-13, Regulations, Kylesa, and Amdi Petersen’s Army. Aggressive, fast hardcore makes thirty-eight tracks fly by. Absolutely essential as an introduction to Havoc, and pretty crucial even if you’re well versed in their releases.
