Designated Dale
1. Untamed, the latest collection of short stories from Jack Grisham that would most definitely get a “What in the FUCK?!” or two out of Rod Serling. Yes, that’s a good thing, a real good thing.
2. Dreadnaught: King of Afropunk, the haunting autobiographical recount of one of punk rock’s most resilient drummers to ever splinter a pair of sticks, D.H. Peligro. Monkeys on the back be damned, D.H. keeps on keepin’ on, and this book takes you on the trek, warts and all.
3. Juan Cirerol, the crazy-insane singer/songwriter out of Mexicali that ever ripped on an acoustic guitar. The golden era punk spirit of Jerry Lee Lewis is strong in young Juan. A must-see.
4. Neighborhood Brats No Sun No Tan compilation LP. This here rekkid is one of the best replies to any butthole who says, “Man, punk is dead.”
5. Motörhead’s Aftershock LP. The band continues to deliver. No explanations necessary.

George Rager
Top 5 Things in Germany That Make It the Awesomest Country for Punk Rockers in the World (As Written Late at Night During Neighborhood Brats’ 2013 European Tour), in No Particular Order
• Cheap beer. Cheap pizza. Vegan options everywhere for your vegan travel pals.
• A culture of youth centers/student centers/house projects and squats that promote punk/underground culture. Every one I’ve been to is home to a barrage of anti-fascist, anti-homophobic, anti-racist stickers and graffiti. More of these would probably exist in the US, if we didn’t have such fucked-up real estate zoning and puritanical alcohol laws.
• Public transportation that makes the U.S. look stupid.
• Classic East German punk bands like Schleimkeim that literally built their own recording gear (!!!) during the Soviet era. Makes suburban North American punks look like the whining knobs they really are.
• German punks largely enjoy conversing with foreign punks, and chances are you already share mutual friends. They will always make you feel like you’ve known them for twenty years, when it’s really just been twenty beers.

Joe Dana
Top 5 Favorite Lyrics in Cramps Songs Right Now
5. “Now King Tut put it on a chart. Noah took two on his ark. Even before Van Gogh had art. Adam and Eve did it in the park,” from “God Damn Rock n Roll”

3. “Like baby needs mom. Like Susie needs Dick. This baby needs. Some new kind of kick,” from “New Kind of Kick”
2. “King of Siam sent a telegram. Said a Wop-A-Lop-A-Loopa-Lop-A-Lop-Boom-Bam,” from “What’s Inside a Girl”
1. “Just what you need when you’re down in the dumps. One half hillbilly and one half punk. Eight long legs and one big mouth. The hottest thing from the north to come out of the south,” from “Garbage Man”
