4 Books That I Have an Opinion About That I Need to Share and 1 Album
• A People’s History of the United Statesby Howard Zinn. I always knew I was lied to in history class, but this is ridiculous!
• King Dork by Frank Portman. Why does no one write books about being in a band? If I wrote a book, that’s totally what it’d be about.
• Any H.P. Lovecraft collection. I don’t even like horror that much, but I am actually frightened reading this stuff. Seventy years later, I don’t think anyone’s been as creative as Lovecraft when it comes to horror.
• Asterios Polyp by David Mazzucchelli. Maus and Watchmen get all the comic book attention in literary circles, but no comic is smarter than Asterios Polyp.
• The Arrivals, Volatile Molotov
Chris Mason

4. Tie: Ilse Content Vol. 9 & Hyena In Petticoats: A Mary Wollstonecraft (zine/both by Alexis Wolf)
5. M.E.T.H.O.D Man and Redman at the Gathering of the Juggalos (M.E.T.H.O.D gets hit with a full beer can thrown by some redneck Juggalo, cutting his head open. Redman says, “You better get that looked at.” M.E.T.H says, “Fuck that! I’m finishing the show!”) Also mentionable, Tech N9ne, Brotha Lynch Hung, Tone Loc, Afroman, Rob Base. Yes, I was there.

1. The Candy Snatchers Down at Delilah’s LP—The Candy Snatchers’ latest installment of fucker-uppery, and sadly, Matty’s last. RIP, Mr. Odietus, hope you and Barry are keeping fuckers in check, wherever you are!
2. The Bamboo Kids The Way Things Are EP—This is probably one of the best bands happening in the state of New York as we speak. Top-notch rocking going on here.
3. Hollywood Hate Product of Our Environment LP—One of the biggest holes missing in the SoCal section on your rekkid shelf. Hooks from the depths of punk rock hell and the shit’stight as Buddy Rich doing a rim shot across your teeth.
4. Dramarama Box Office Bomb LP—For being some twenty-three years old, this album more than continues to hold its own and then some. There are those who are quick to associate Springsteen with New Jersey, but the fine folks in Dramarama are always the first I recognize (Wayne, to be exact).
5. Charm Machine (alive and kicking)—Taking Los Angeles back, one shitty band at a time, properly fueled by the all-reigning burrito gods. Get the fuck out of the way.
