Success has its boat docked in the same pond of pop punk that a lot of other bands do, but somehow manages to stand out. Is it the bright blue paint on the hull? Is this analogy going nowhere? In some cases, I am reminded of what Less Than Jake might sound like if it dropped the horns and pseudo ska. That’s no slight. I’ve always thought—on the right day—LTJ can dish out a pretty tasty pop punk nugget and this CD has them aplenty. Perhaps I do a disservice by the comparison, though, as these guys are not merely aping a known entity. Radio Recovery is filled with a working class lyrical sensibility and genuine emotion that places this album well in front of those of their peers.
