A while back I got an issue of Staying In. It was mostly the editor talking about going to shows and being punk. With this one he reveals his true agenda, to start up a sort of non-weekly alternative to Jersey City’s entertainment weekly, Steppin’ Out, that’s “similar in format, opposite in spirit.” In it he writes an open letter to the mayor suggesting better ways of spending of the city’s funds than building more condos. His suggestions are sort of sarcastic, sort of serious, so I’m hoping his suggestion to spend city money keeping crime off the streets was also in jest. I hate to hear punk types call for more police presence. There’s a contributor story about a stolen bike, a redux of “The Night Before Christmas” taking place Jersey City, and a piece by Mike Faloon about a disturbing statue. –Craven Rock ([email protected])
