Their guitarist manages to get a pretty unique sound to his twanger here—at times it almost sounds like a large, steely marble being bounced around inside a large metallic tube. Not a sound one comes across too often since Sonic Youth decided to write pop songs. This is noise rock that falls on the no wave end of the spectrum; rhythmic—often hypnotic in the same way listening to machines work is—and yet fully engaging throughout.
