SPIDERBAGS: Shake My Head: CD

Sep 11, 2012

Fairly middling barroom alt-rock stuff here. The loose, vaguely rootsy vibe of the music is fine enough, but the flat, laid back vocals give the whole thing a “Slash Records farm leaguers” feel. The most engaging song on here, “Shawn Cripps Boogie,” is an instrumental with a repetitive, almost haunting structure that recalls the instrumental version of “Sound on Sound” on the Big Boys’ Wreck Collection, but the rest is pretty unmemorable.
