SPIDER BAGS: Self-titled: 7"

Mar 15, 2010

Man, Spider Bags really has a gem with their song “Teenage Eyes.” Dan McGee’s vocals are drenched in reverb, a style that works perfectly for their back-in-the-day rock sound. This tune reminds of what you’d expect to hear from a Mooney Suzuki record. The simple intro guitar riff is catchy and drives the song speeding along. Also, the line, “Next to me, you’re next to nothing,” is pretty smart. Because this record only has two songs, I don’t feel like I have a complete picture of what the Spider Bags are all about, but, based on these tunes, I like them.
