Sort of like how members of Hot Water Music let their country music influence shine through as Rumbleseat, members of the Starvations are moonlighting as Silk Flowers. Some of the same ingredients are there: the wailing vocals, the lyrics full of despair, and the fact the songs aren’t grossly exaggerated caricatures. The music, however, is a different story. The Gun Club/Birthday Party influence has been filtered out, leaving a bare-boned, acoustic country sound that is no less haunting than the music of the Starvations. Fantastic. –Not Josh
