It must be galling when a label is about to release a band’s record and the group calls it a day. That’s the situation Bombed Out faced ahead of what has proved to be the final recording from this Welsh outfit. Musically, it’s a concoction of angular and smooth post-punk reminiscent of other U.K. bands like Wooderson and The Future Of The Left. There is a sense of this record almost being two distinct releases—given the clear difference in some of the songs—yet that is the one element I found distracting and which led to me occasionally drifting off. Not a bad release, but Bombed Out has put out records by many better bands.
