Geographic zine centering around Santa Ana, CA. Kind of weird in that the zine is totally just printed on glossy paper straight from their printer, but they also talk about being able to afford offices downtown. Those State Farm ads in the back must be raking in the dough. Focusing entirely on the city itself, there are articles about an artist doing a mural about World War II veterans, a woman who organizes a farmer’s market, an interview with a food critic, and a brief exposé about Santa Ana Copwatch. Again, it’s weird—there are plenty of full-color photos, but there’s also huge type, tons of white space, and I found the writing itself to be pretty generic and unremarkable. Citizens of Santa Ana might want to take note, I guess. The rest of us can probably move on to the next thing. –Keith Rosson (Santanero, 2906 S. Rita Way, Santa Ana, CA 92704)
