SAFEWORDS: Self-titled: LP

Take a chilly death rock foundation, add on some additional bleakness, some trebly guitars with a penchant for high string/high neck chord-leads, insistent tempos, bubbling bass, and a singer infatuated with Ian Curtis and you’ve the fixin’s for some fine listenin’. Sure, you may know the drill within the first few seconds, but they do it quite well and deliver songs that sound tributary without reeking of tribute.
