RED MASS: White Nights: 7”

The title track starts out with a guitar lead brazenly appropriated from the Buzzcocks’ “Boredom” welded onto the promise of something twisted and weird before instead veering into a nice punky ditty with darker edges than appear at first blush. The flip, “Animal,” is the more traditionally “punk” of the two, with a bit more stomp to it and a structure that would have all the ‘77-punk dweebs soiling their leather pants if the guitars were more Marshall crunch than Fender slash.
