Razorcake Podcast #205: With Jimmy Alvarado
Another podcast of tuneage both old and new submitted for your aural edification, kids. Some quick things of note about the stuff here:
- Nervous Gender's Gestalt single is the first formal studio release by both band and label in a loooooong time, and I think most will agree it was well worth the wait.
- "Sick" Rick Medina, vocalist for The Dysfunctionals, was killed 9/15/08 while riding his motorcycle to work. He was a natural-born front man” (charismatic, funny as hell, and a consumate showman who took care of business on the mic without ever taking himself too seriously) and a cool homie. Though it's apparently hard to find these days, I highly recommend seeking out anything by this band or his previous band, Sister Morphine.
- When you have a few minutes to kill, look up the video for the Monsters' "Blow Um Mau Mau."
Hope ye dig it.
-Jimmy
