When Jay moved to Portland in June of 2014, I thought The Mons were done. Luckily for me, the rest of the Mons thought otherwise and recruited Little Dave Merriman of the Arrivals to take over on bass. I’m happy once again.
With members of Lynyrd’s Innards, Apocalypse Hoboken, The Mashers, and The Arrivals, The Mons are all veterans of the Chicago punk scene who know what they like and how to do it. They’re making music because that’s what they do.
I drove up to Milwaukee to see The Mons at the Cactus Club because I had missed Little Dave’s debut with the band the week before. I’m glad I did because my favorite Chicago band is back!
