Raw and authentic Zydeco and swamp roots from France. Banjos and melodeons (type of button accordion) too much for you? Throw in some thoughtful and irreverent folk punk (think Pogues, but French) harmonies and you’re on your way. Even early genre populists would be proud of the sometimes traditional, sometimes modern approach. Two of the best songs, “Dead Love Song” and “You Stole My Motorcycle,” are examples of this extreme.
