I don’t often hear good old-style garagey rock’n’roll coming out of Sweden, but The Maharajas have got it going on and then some. I guess I would liken this to the Oblivians meets the Woggles. As far as how they engage in the genre, this is pretty much straightforward and standard in all the positive senses of such words. You know what you’re getting into with this one, but it does not disappoint at all. Infectious grooves but light and springy with an occasional touch of heaviness, like a pineapple upside down cake. There really isn’t much to say about this in the end since, musically, it’s rather familiar, but it’s a welcome offering of such stylings. Good stuff, men.
