LAGWAGON: I Think My Older Brother Used to Listen to Lagwagon: CDEP

The title of this album might as well refer to me. Although, I think my older brother who listened to rock tended to lean more towards grunge than skate punk during his half-pipe days. He did put me on the right path when I started listening to punk, though, by telling me to seek out the Bad Brains. At any rate, Lagwagon is one of those bands whose name I’ve seen tossed around since before I ever heard punk at around the tender age of fifteen or sixteen, but, for some reason, I’ve never listened to them until I got this CD. I wish I could say I realized I’ve been missing out, but I can’t. Maybe I just didn’t start at the right place with Lagwagon, but, basically, the only real impression I can muster is to say they sound like a depressed NOFX, but with a lot of vaguely Latin-sounding guitar lines. This is pleasant enough to have on in the background for its seven song length, but it never feels terribly essential.
