The Raging Nathans bring gritty and melodic, fast and tight, old Fat Wreck-style pop punk to the table in a way that has you nodding your head along, whether you intended to or not. They channel a little bit of many of my favorite pop punk bands in that good way that doesn’t feel directly ripped from any other artist. They have some great songs which are played live with the level of energy you’d hope for, based on the tempo of the recordings. I have a hard time listening to “I’m on Drugs” (live or recorded) without getting a little misty-eyed, thinking about the friends I’ve lost in the last year. Several of their songs do this to me—the lyrics aren’t complicated but they definitely resonate.
