Interview Podcast with Alice Bag, Author of Pipe Bomb for the Soul By Todd Taylor
Punk pioneer, Alice Bag’s second book is called Pipe Bomb for the Soul. It picks up where her first book, Violence Girl, left off, after the dissolution of the Bags. Alice makes bold decision to fly down to Nicaragua, a country in the throes of a revolution, in the hopes of becoming a better teacher. Pipe Bomb for the Soul’s source text is Alice’s journal from 1986. It is fortified with her reflections on what happened, how it changed her, and what she learned. Topics include beauty standards, Paulo Freire’s concept of “banking” education, the FSLN, ethnicity, class, Comandante Gladys Baez, and personalizing your own revolution.
This is an hour-long conversation with Alice with Razorcake co-founder, Todd Taylor.
