I Blame Society: The Masque from Mike Plante on Vimeo.
Razorcake friend and contributor Speedway Randy brings his exploration of the foundation of old punk venues to The Masque, perhaps the grandaddy of them all.
For a short time in the late 70s, this space was the only club in Hollywood where bands like The Germs, Circle Jerks, and The Bags were playing.
Rudy, the building's resident historian, retells his high school years spent in awe of the punks who left their mark on the space (and him).
Today, the graffiti sits behind production equipment, storage shelves with rows of bins and raw footage tapes. Much of it is still in tact, a reminder of the Masque's short, explosive history.
This is part of a series of videos exploring old punk clubs from the 70s and 80s, to see what's left. For more, check out punkfoundations.blogspot.com
