Ten catchy tunes, some bubblegum but mostly ‘60s girl group-influenced pop. I’d say it’s even better than their previous LP (a comp of out of print, internet-expensive singles). Some of the shtick is dropped and songwriting seems to be the main focus. Lots of help from Shannon Shaw of Shannon And The Clams (check out her turn in “The Curse of Being Young”—goddamn!) Shaw’s vocals are much stronger than Hunx’s bratty whine and, on some songs, the backing vocals even overpower Hunx. If I have a complaint, I’d say that was something that should have been fixed during mixing.
