A double-CD set of goth bands from back in the day. Lots of fascist overtones amongst the performers’ coutre and plenty of strobe lights. Some of the heavy hitters show (Throbbing Gristle, Test Dept., Pigface, Christian Death, and Alien Sex Fiend) but some of the major players of the goth sound and look are notably absent (Bauhaus, The Cure, Joy Division). But damn does it make me miss those girls with the jet-black hair all teased up like Robert Smith, wearing oversized sweaters and sporting smudge eyeliner. A must for archivalists. Curiosity seekers would do better somewhere else. –Greg Barbera (www.musicvideodistributors)
