As the title suggests, this is a discography of singles by Japan’s Gleam Garden, who, to these jaded ears, sound like Tiltwheel crash-landing in a late-’80s post-hardcore paradise. I can’t help but make constant comparisons to Swiz and Soulside with this one—GleamGarden’s sound is raw and earnest, but there’s sophistication and craftsmanship to these songs. When punk rock steps out of its insular three-chord 4/4-beat safe-zone, records like this result. Good stuff.
