At first glance, this seems like it would be noisy stuff like Disorder, or the more recent Nerveskade (which this band has ex-members). But pay a little closer attention and you hear a more early ‘80s influence. There is definitely the blown-out distortion and constant din of feedback. But the song structures and the delivery is more in tune with the early hardcore stuff. The percussion sounds straight from Septic Death (which to me is a good thing), and the songs are more in tune with stuff like the Neos and Midwestern bands. The delivery is very urgent, as you can hear it in how forcibly and deliberately the lyrics are spit, really pushing the weight of every word into your ear. They get thrashy, but they retain enough personality in each song. That helps make a lasting impact. “Mental Anesthesia” is a cooker! This is pretty damn good stuff.
