About two minutes into “Bad Motel,” as the song is going from the second chorus into the solo, there’s a bit of guitar noodling that tugs the track in a different direction. It’s not dissonant or off key (it reminds me of the Soft Boys, actually). It’s unexpected and hard to categorize and I wish Indie Band had more moments like it. The rest of the disc, a decent blend of Green Day and the Clash (Billy Joe Strummer?), too goes where I expected it to.
