The Ex-Gentlemen are two parts ‘80s rock (think Cheap Trick), one part ‘77 punk (think Generation X), and one part Green Day. The result? Decent rock’n’roll with catchy parts, power chords, and plenty of sing-a-long-iness. For me, it was a bit too heavy on the general ‘80s rock’n’roll side of things (as evidenced by all four of these songs being about a minute too long for my highly caffeinated attention span), but for a self-released demo, this is pretty good. If this were a cereal, it’d be Honeycomb—the sugar is there, but you have to slog through a lot of whole grains and corn bran to get there.
